Tom Brady and the Heartbreakers...

All I will say (before I never speak of this game again) is that the Giants outplayed the Patriots. The Patriots seemed different tonight. There was a lot more talk about destiny, dynasty, and being in an elite class than winning a game.

(I will concede that this is all the media asked the Pats about for 2 weeks)

Tom Brady didn't look right. He wasn't as accurate as he normally is. I think he was more hurt than the team let on. Tom can thread the needle better than anyone (with the possible exception of Dan Marino) and tonight receivers were catching balls behind them, at their ankles, and over their heads.

The offensive line did nothing to help matters. Brady was getting way too much pressure to be effective. A quarterback can only do so much.

18-1 is an amazing feat, but they lost the game that mattered most.

After the game, I took the Patriots balloons off my mailbox after the Superbowl extravaganza ended at my house, and I let them go into the night. I said goodbye to destiny and goodbye to perfection. It felt like game 6 of the 1986 World Series. 1 strike away until Mookie Wilson... well, I can't talk about that either.

All I could do to comfort myself was say, "Pitchers and catchers report in 2 weeks. Baseball is back. Thank God! Please welcome the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox!"

Goodbye "Devil"

This report was funny. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have decided to drop "Devil" from their name and just go with "Rays".

For a team that is always finishing in last place, taking the "devil" out of the equation has got to be a step in the right direction.

OOOOHHHHHH YYYEEEEAAAHHH!!!!!!

World Series Champs!!!!!!

They scared me a few times, but the Sox proved what they were made of as they dominated the Rockies!!!!

I waited all my life to see the Sox win in 2004. Another title 3 years later is unbelievable!!!!

Only Bostonians Pray Like this...

My sister sent me this today...

A REDSOX PRAYER

Our Father, who art at Fenway...
Baseball be thy game.
They Kingdom come,
Playoffs need to be won,
On Earth, then on to the Cask 'n' Flagon.

Give us this day, a perfect Papi,
And forgive us our losses,
As we forgive those,
Like Bill Buckner.

And lead us not, into desperation,
But deliver us from any losses.

For thine is the Power,
And the Glory,
To beat the Indians,
Forever and ever....the Yankees suck

Have The Red Sox Lost Their Mojo?

I don't want to talk about the ALCS.

I keep saying to myself, "This isn't happening... this isn't happening! Remember 2004... remember 2004..."

I'm about ready to break into a full blown depression. The Red Sox had the best record in baseball and they falling apart to a team that they crushed in the regular season.

Anyway, I don't want to talk about it!

Absolute Domination!

Josh Beckett threw a 4-hitter tonight as the Red Sox beat the Angels 4-0!

He just overpowered them tonight! The Angels hitters looked lost tonight. The Red Sox hitters didn't. John Lackey wasn't fooling anyone. Good times!

We're gonna Party like it's 1995!

That's what I'm talking about! The last time we won the AL East Division title was 1995! It feels nice.

There's no stopping this team! We're facing the Angels in the ALDS (reminds me of 2004 - can you say "sweep"?). In the immortal words of Clubber Lang, "I pity the fool!"

My Imaginary Team

So I drafted my Fantasy Football team tonight. Here's what I got:

Starters:
QB - Tom Brady (NE)
RB - Larry Johnson (KC)
RB - Ahman Green (HOU)
RB/WR - Chester Taylor (MIN)
WR - Marvin Harrison (IND)
WR - Randy Moss (NE)
TE - Keith Miller (PIT)
K - Adam Vinatieri (IND)
Defense - Miami Dolphins

Bench:
QB - Trent Green (MIA)
RB - Michael Bennett (KC)
RB - Lamont Jordan (OAK)
WR - Braylon Edwards (CLE)
WR - Terry Glenn (DAL)
RB - Mike Bell (DEN)
WR - Jerry Porter (OAK)

I really wanted the Patriots defense, but I didn't get it. It went right before I picked. So I went with Miami. They've invested tons of money into their defense in the off-season, so I'm thinking they're going to have a good defensive year.

Trent Green is my flyer. I don't know how he'll do, but I've got a church full of Dol-fans who think he'll do well. So it was probably an emotional decision.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with my team. We'll see how they perform.

Oh Yes! A No-No!!

BosoxxlargeIn the 2nd Major League Start of his career, Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz threw a no-hitter tonight against the Orioles!!!

This is exactly the catalyst that the Red Sox needed to take them into the post-season!

There was a specific event in 2004 that got the Red Sox firing on all 8 cylinders. It was July 24th when A-Rod got a beat down by Jason Varitek (the picture of Tek hitting A-Rod in the face was my desktop for a long after that) and then coming back and beating the Yankees in the 9th inning sent the Red Sox into a frenzy that didn't stop until the World Series trophy was in hand!

Could this be the moment they needed in 2007? I think so!

I don't want to talk about it!

Bdd_pats_colts_12107_bgmlThey lost the game with 1 minute to go! I just can't believe it.

I was driving home from church Sunday night , checked my Treo and the score was 21-6. By the time I got home, the score was tied. UUUUGGGGGHHHH!

Then to lose it with 1 minute left was just inexcusable. By the way, how many passes does Reche Caldwell have to drop before we stop throwing the ball to him? By the way #87, you just got a new nickname: Bill Buckner!

How glorious would it have been for Tom Brady and the Pats to win their 4th Superbowl 10 minutes from my house? Answer: Very!

Anyway, I don't want to talk about this. All I keep saying to myself is, "We're won 3 Superbowls in the last 6 years." This game reeked of game 7 of the 2003 ALCS. You think the game is in the bag. You have a comfortable lead. Then, out of nowhere, they tie it up. Then Aaron Boone hits a walk off home run and you've seen enough to know that you've seen too much.

By the way, pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training in 26 days. So let's talk baseball.
